8 years after making fans' hearts beat faster in Dr. Romantic, Seo Hyeon-jin and Yoo Yeon-seok could well reunite on screen. According to several Korean media outlets, the two actors are in talks to play the lead roles in MBC's upcoming drama entitled Liar (working title).
This project, still in the discussion stage, promises an intrigue rich in tension and twists and turns. Liar will tell the story of 2 people whose seemingly idyllic first date takes an unexpected turn the very next day. Each then puts forward a completely opposite version of last night, mixing truth and lies in an unpredictable spiral.
Seo Hyun-jin, who has made a name for herself in recent years with her deep, nuanced roles, is said to be considering the role of Kang Ji-seon, an essay teacher at an art college. Marked by a difficult childhood that forced her to focus on deciphering lies rather than striving for naive honesty, she leads a discreet life until she meets Min Jun-ho.
Meanwhile, Yoo Yeon-seok, recently seen in Hospital Playlist and When the phone ringsMin Jun-ho, a charismatic, caring widowed cardiothoracic surgeon. The father of a teenage son, he had given up on love until he crossed paths with Kang Ji-seon, his son's teacher.
If the project goes ahead, this reunion would mark a long-awaited return for the duo, crowned Best Couple at the SBS Drama Awards in 2016 thanks to their chemistry in Dr. Romantic. MBC has already confirmed that the drama is scheduled for broadcast next year (2026), with no specific date as yet.
