Ryu Seung-ryong, the man who seeks to find himself in The Dream Life of Mr Kim

JTBC set to unveil The Dream Life of Mr. Kim (Mr. Kim's Dream Life), a drama starring the charismatic Ryu Seung-ryong. Inspired by a webtoon, the story follows Kim Nak-sooNak-soo, a middle-aged man who thought he'd achieved everything: a prestigious position in a big company, a house in Seoul, a nice car... all symbols of a perfect life. But behind this facade, Nak-soo discovers a disturbing truth: despite his titles and possessions, he can't find himself.

The main poster vividly illustrates this inner tug-of-war. It shows Nak-soo dancing alone on the roof of his company, as the sun sets and the city lights up. Dressed in his office suit, tie tight, he continues to move tirelessly until nightfall. His graceful yet weary gestures, combined with a slight, melancholy smile, reflect the life of a man who has never stopped running.

The promise of a universal story

This visual is accompanied by a poem written by Nak-soo, which gives the series its title: "I have the job in a big company, the house in Seoul, the car and everything else... but when I look closely, there's no me. It's so frustrating." These words reveal the paradox of a man who apparently has everything, but remains haunted by a sense of emptiness.

Through this character, The Dream Life of Mr. Kim proposes a universal reflection: what really makes a life worth living? Can we learn to shine again when we've lost the essence of ourselves?
