JTBC has unveiled the first images of its upcoming drama The Dream Life of Mr. Kimdue on October 25. Adapted from a webtoon, the series promises a touching reflection on the quest for meaning in the midst of modern routine, with Ryu Seung-ryong in the lead role.

A well-ordered life falls apart

The teaser reveals Kim Nak-soo (played by Ryu Seung-ryong), a middle-aged man who goes to work every morning with an impassive face, almost devoid of emotion. The scene shows him on an escalator, a banal symbol of daily routine, while words like "have a house", "in Seoul", "big company" or "head of department". Successes that once seemed to define his life.

But as he climbs, these words crack and crumble, as if to illustrate the gradual collapse of everything that had built his identity. Behind this powerful staging, the drama explores the fall of illusions and the possibility of rediscovering one's true self.

A universal quest

According to the production team, The Dream Life of Mr. Kim will tell the story of people faced with an unexpected crisis that disrupts the monotony of their daily lives. Beyond the shock, it's an invitation to seek a more sincere happiness, far from titles and social status. Kim Nak-soo's journey through loss, reconstruction and self-discovery mirrors the concerns of many of today's viewers.
