The world of Kdramas is about to welcome a dark and spellbinding new story. Entitled Awakening (working title), this SBS fantasy series could bring together on-screen Ryu Da-in and Lee Jun-hyuk, two talents with very different registers, in a plot as mysterious as it is disturbing.

A schoolgirl, a priest... and voices from elsewhere
According to initial information relayed on September 29, Ryu Da-in has reportedly been offered one of the lead roles in this upcoming drama, currently in development. Her agency, Alien Company, has confirmed that it is carefully considering the offer. If accepted, she would join an already intriguing cast.
Last May, Lee Jun-hyuk had also been announced as a potential lead actor. He could play Antonio, a priest recently appointed to the chapel of an elite high school in Daechi-dong, an upscale district of Seoul renowned for its schools. But behind his cassock, Antonio conceals a far more obscure mission: that of an exorcist.
The scenario promises to be disturbing. The plot revolves around a student who transfers to this school of excellence. Ready to do anything to succeed, she consumes stimulants to improve her grades... until she began to hear the voices of the dead. Between possession, hallucination and buried truths, Awakening explores the excesses of academic pressure in a heavy supernatural atmosphere.
Oh Ye-ju has also been approached for the role of this mysterious high-school girl. Her agency has not yet commented on this rumour.
As casting details gradually emerge, Awakening already promises a dark, psychological atmosphere, set against a backdrop of exorcisms and well-kept secrets. To be followed very closely.
