Disney+ continues to enrich its catalog of original dramas with a series that promises as much for its cast as for its dark, haunting atmosphere. Entitled The Murky StreamThis new historical production will plunge viewers into the heart of a Joseon era torn apart by injustice and corruption. The series will launch on September 26 with 3 episodesbefore continuing his rhythm with 2 episodes each weekfor a total of 9 episodes.

A historical fresco of visual poetry and political denunciation

In this drama with a tragic and committed tone, we follow the destiny of three young characters determined to face up to an unfair world :

The context is as visual as it is symbolic. The series takes place in a Joseon, where the Gyeong, once a limpid river, has become a turbid river.a kingdom plagued by decadence. Visit recently unveiled posters feature splashes of black ink, evoking the stained waters of the river and the corrupt hearts of those who rule. The accompanying slogan, "It's your fault. You were born into a corrupt world", heralds a story as introspective as it is political.

The drama's original logo was designed by the famous Chong Tae-chunan icon of Korean folk music, whose calligraphic style reinforces the dramatic scope of the series. A strong artistic touch that heralds a story both intense and unpredictable.

Then, the river's apparent calm is shattered by the threat of imminent invasion. Jeong Cheon warns: "Joseon is a country in decline. Everything smells of decay. As for Choi Eun, her anger erupts in the face of injustice: "It's senseless!", quickly belittled by the voice of the powerful: "Nothing is impossible for those in power."

But these young souls refuse to give in. Armed with courage and sharp blades, they choose revolt over submission. Their final cry resounds like a call to struggle: "Let's fight. In this tired world, to die would be a blessing."

With The Murky StreamDisney+ seems to want to move away from the usual sageuk codes to offer a visceral tale, where the quest for justice becomes a constant battle. Supported by a trio of talented actors and meticulous art direction, the series is already shaping up to be a must-see this fall.
