Netflix continues to expand its catalog of Korean series with a particularly promising new project: Road (working title), a international crime drama adapted from the manhwa Blue Road. On September 12, the platform confirmed production of the series and unveiled an impressive cast that includes Son Suk Ku, Nagayama Eita, Kim Shin-rok, Choi Sung-eun and Jung Jae-young.
The synopsis
The series Road will follow 2 detectives on the trail of a series of particularly macabre cross-border murders, characterized by deformed corpses and enigmatic messages. The investigation begins when a grotesquely contorted body is discovered in Tokyo, accompanied by a chilling message written in bloody Korean, sending shockwaves across the country. Shortly afterwards, another similar body is found, this time in Korea, with a message written in Japanese. Aware that the two cases are linked, the two nations launch a joint investigation into what appears to be a wave of serial murders.
Behind the camera, we find Han Jun-heewhose credits include the hard-hitting D.P., the film noir Coin Locker Girl and the hit Weak Hero Class. His realistic, edgy and psychological style promises to give gripping depth to this transnational thriller.
Son Suk-ku will play a Korean detective confronted with his own dark side, while Nagayama Eita will play his Japanese counterpart, an investigator as rigorous as he is enigmatic. Kim Shin-rok will play a Korean-Japanese businesswoman whose ties to the case may be more personal than they appear. Choi Sung-eun lends her features to a government agent who investigates in parallel, but with very different methods and objectives. Last but not least, Jung Jae Young will play a character shrouded in mystery, whose real identity could turn the whole investigation upside down.

With its dark atmosphere, prestigious cast and breathtaking plot straddling two nations, "Road" promises to be a high-flying psychological thrillera blend of suspense, diplomatic tensions and human depths.
To be followed closely.
