Get ready to shiver. SBS unveils the first gripping images of its new thriller Queen Mantisstarring an unrecognizable Go Hyun-jung. In this Korean remake of the French series The MantisThe actress plays Jung Yi-shin, a notorious serial killer nicknamed "The Mantis", imprisoned for 2 decades for the brutal murder of 5 men.
But the past seems intent on resurfacing. An imitator reproduces the murders with disturbing accuracy. Overwhelmed, the police decide to call on the only person capable of deciphering the killer: Jung Yi-shin herself. Against this tense backdrop, Inspector Cha Soo-yeol (played by Jang Dong-yoon) is forced to collaborate with the woman he has always hated... his own mother.
The official photos unveiled hint at the scope of the role. Go Hyun-jung appears hypnotic. In one shot, she stares out at the horizon with a blood-red apple in her hand, her piercing gaze contrasting with the purity of her features. In another, a chilling smile lights up her face, while her immaculate clothes are stained red, like a macabre signature. A final image shows her shrouded in mystery, impenetrable.
The production studio praises the actress' performance, underlining the physical and mental demands of the role. "Go Hyun-jung invested all her energy in this complex character. She was able to create a unique version of 'The Mantis', both disturbing and captivating."
