tvN has just unveiled the main trailer for " Pro Bono" a spectacular fall from grace. Jeong Kyeong-ho plays Kang David, a judge as famous as he is full of himself, thrust against his will into a department that nobody wants to run.
From the red carpet to the files without glory
The trailer opens with Kang David in all his glory, reigning in the country's most prestigious courtroom. As he leaves the courtroom, passers-by stop him for selfies - the ultimate symbol of his "judge-star" status. He calls himself "the nation's judge" and relishes this popularity.
But everything changes abruptly when he discovers a mysterious crate labeled "apples"... filled with banknotes. His reaction is immediate and unmistakable: a panicked cry, a lost look, and we understand that his career has just imploded before even reaching the Supreme Court.
A forced descent into the real world
Following this incident, Kang David is transferred to the pro bono team of a large law firm, a department that generates no income and is shunned by all. Director Oh Jung-in (Lee Yoo-young) oversees this forgotten department, and Kang David lands there with no desire whatsoever, his pride trampled underfoot.
His new colleagues, for their part, welcome him with bewildering energy: Park Ki-bbeum (So Ju-yeon) overflows with sincerity, Jang Young-sil (Yoon Na-moo) displays an infectious eccentricity, Yoo Nan-hee (Seo Hye-won) imposes a frenetic pace and Hwang Joon-woo (Kang Hyung-suk) brings an almost too serious rigor.
The former judge soon discovers a reality he used to despise: isolated villages, field investigations, clients invisible to the system. In the final sequence, Kang David finally declares: "I'm lawyer Kang David. Hang in there." A sentence that sounds as much like a rebirth as a threat.
