An unexpected couple, an impossible love, and a destiny broken in advance: Lee Jong-won and Kim Do-yeon are set to form one of the most intense duos of the year in Kdrama Praying for the Moonflower (other title: Wish Upon a Moon Flowerliteral title). This ambitious project, still in preparation, promises a romance as sublime as it is heartbreaking.

An encounter in the midst of chaos
In Praying for the Moonflower, Kim Do-yeon plays Yang Cho-seola renowned swordsmith working in a prisoner-of-war camp. Strong, dignified and full of determination, she shapes her blades as if each stroke of her hammer were a silent prayer for survival.
One day, she crosses paths with Baek Je-hui (Lee Jong-won), a general from an enemy kingdom on the run, as feared as he is lonely. The warrior is renowned for his icy beauty (inherited from his mother) and his ruthless heart. He trusts no one, keeps no one at his side. But when confronted with Cho Seol, his certainties crack.
A tragic love story set against a backdrop of war
The drama is presented as a melancholy melody between two lost souls whom everything opposes but fate brings together in a whirlwind of tension, sensuality and tragedy. This is no gentle romance: it's a powerful melodramawhere every glance is a battle, every gesture a dilemma.
The story is by Jang Yoo-hathe drama's screenwriter Doona!and produced by Jang Young-wooknown for Queen of Tears, Sweet Home and Mr. Sunshine. A top-notch creative team that promises a visually powerful and emotionally moving work.
A first real chance for Kim Do-yeon
Former member of the Weki MekiKim Do-yeon takes her first steps as a starring in a TV dramaafter playing the younger versions of Lee Honey (One the Woman) and Jun Ji-hyun (Jirisan). Very committed to her acting career, she even went to study in the UK after the end of her group, demonstrating her real determination.
As for Lee Jong-won, he has been busy with one project after another. Brewing Love in 2024, he returns here in a dark and intense role, before making his return to cinema in a thriller alongside Kim Hye-yoon.
An agency representative THEBLACKLABELwhich manages Lee Jong-wonhe added:
"Wish Upon a Moon Flower is a project he received and is currently studying." Similarly, a representative of Fantagioagency Kim Do-yeonsaid, "She is still considering the proposal to star in Wish Upon a Moon Flower."
The filming of Praying for the Moonflower is set to begin production shortly. No broadcast date has yet been confirmed, but all indications are that this will be one of the most eagerly awaited dramas of 2026.
