SBS is preparing a new drama combining comedy, emotion and the supernatural with « Phantom Lawyer »which goes on air on March 13. The series stars Yoo Yeon-seok and Esom as a duo of lawyers as unlikely as they are complementary.
The story follows Shin Yi-rang, a lawyer who can see ghosts, and Han Na-hyun, a brilliant jurist who believes only in facts. Together, they defend unusual clients: spirits unable to find peace until their injustices have been righted.
Two irreconcilable worldviews
The first images show the 2 characters sitting face to face in a tense atmosphere. Shin Yi-rang listens to the grievances of invisible entities and protects truths that no one can prove, while Han Na-hyun relies solely on evidence and logic to win his cases.
Even when they're working on the same case, their opposing interpretations foreshadow a complicated collaboration. The drama thus plays on a permanent contrast: belief versus rationality, intuition versus method.
An unexpected alliance
In the course of her business dealings, Han Na-hyun comes face to face with the supernatural world of Shin Yi-rang. Little by little, conflict gives way to trust, and she becomes his strongest ally. Their relationship evolves from one of constant opposition to one of genuine cooperation.
The production explains that the very concept of a ghost-seeing lawyer facing a skeptical female lawyer is the best way to express their differences. Between confrontations, cracks and unexpected empathy, this «possessed alchemy» should be the heart of this adventure tinged with vengeance.
Featuring two actors with very different energies, the series promises a dynamic pace and enhanced immersion.
