MBC's upcoming drama « Perfect Crown »is beginning to unveil its powerful figures. The first official images highlight Noh Sang-hyun and Gong Seung-yeon, 2 key characters called upon to tip the political and royal balance in this alternate universe romance.
The story is set in contemporary Korea, now a constitutional monarchy. At the heart of the story is an impossible romance between Sung Hee-joo (IU), heiress to a powerful conglomerate but a commoner, and Grand Prince Yi An (Byeon Woo-seok), son of the king deprived of any real power. Around them gravitate authority figures whose choices will weigh heavily on their destinies.

The Prime Minister with his impeccable smile and restrained emotions
Noh Sang-hyun plays Min Jung-woo, Prime Minister of an exceptional political lineage. Grandson and son of former heads of government, he represents not only the continuity of power, but also its most attractive face. Intelligent, charismatic and popular, Min Jung-woo is universally perceived as the ideal bachelor.

Behind this smooth image, however, lies a man who carefully conceals his true feelings. Only Grand Prince Yi An, his childhood friend, seems capable of cracking this shell. When the latter announces his intention to marry Sung Hee-joo, an unexpected turmoil sets in for Min Jung-woo. Emotions he had thought under control resurface, raising doubts about how far they will go, and what consequences they will have on this arranged marriage at the top of the state?
The dowager queen faces the threat to her throne
Meanwhile, Gong Seung-yeon lends her features to Yoon Yi-rang, a pillar of the royal family. Born into a line that has produced 4 queens, she was brought up with restraint and self-control. Her rise to the highest position in the kingdom was no accident: she accepted her destiny with exemplary composure, becoming the very embodiment of the perfect queen.

But the balance is upset when her young son takes the throne and she becomes queen dowager. The growing influence of Grand Prince Yi An, widely supported by public opinion, arouses deep concern in her. From now on, Yoon Yi-rang must navigate a volatile power game, determined to protect both her son and her own position, whatever the cost.

The first images unveiled underline this hushed tension: Min Jung-woo imposes a political authority imbued with calculated gentleness, while Yoon Yi-rang dominates the royal scene with cool, controlled elegance. Two figures of power, two destinies, and a silent struggle that promises to give Perfect Crown dramatic depth.
The drama is due on MBC in April and on Disney+ (for certain countries only).
