Just a few days before its release, the drama “Perfect Crown”is already raising a lot of expectations, not least thanks to its lead duo of IU and Byeon Woo-seok. The 2 actors share their impressions of their characters and their on-screen relationship.
Set in an alternative universe where modern Korea operates under a constitutional monarchy, the drama promises an atypical romance between two characters who have everything working against them.
A strong relationship at the heart of the story
“Perfect Crown” tells the story of Seong Hui-ju, an heiress from a powerful conglomerate who seems to have it all, but remains a commoner in this monarchical world.
Opposite her, Prince Ian, the king's son, lives in a paradoxical situation: despite his royal status, he owns nothing and lives in a world of constraints.
Their relationship promises to be central to the story. IU describes their bond as that of “saviors to each other”, while Byeon Woo-seok speaks of an “inseparable” duo, hinting at a deep, emotional romance.
A natural chemistry between IU and Byeon Woo-seok
The 2 actors also spoke of their complicity on the set. IU confided: “I had already worked briefly with Byeon Woo-seok some 10 years ago, but this is the first time we've actually acted together as partners. From the moment we read the script, everything was very natural. We exchanged ideas a lot and encouraged each other.”
For his part, Byeon Woo-seok added: “On every shoot, IU and the whole team were very caring and considerate, which made our chemistry really excellent.”
“Perfect Crown” will be broadcast from April 10 on Disney+.
