Park Sung-woong approached to act as General Kim Yu-shin again in Great King Munmu

The charismatic actor Park Sung-woong could soon be making a comeback in a major historical role. On September 23, the Korean press reported that the actor had received an offer to join the cast of the upcoming historical drama from KBS 2TVentitled Great King Munmu (working title), scheduled for release next year.

Shortly afterwards, Park Sung-woong's agency confirmed the news: "Park Sung-woong has received a proposal for the drama Great King Munmu. The project is currently under review."

An ambitious historical fresco

Located at the end of the Three Kingdoms to the 7ᵉ century, the plot of Great King Munmu will trace the bitter struggles between Goguryeo, Silla, Baekje and China's Tang dynasty, until the unification of the Three Kingdoms under the Silla banner and the final victory over the Tang forces.

If Park Sung-woong accepts, he will lend his features to Kim Yu-shina legendary Silla general and key figure in this unification.

This choice is particularly striking: indeed, Park Sung-woong had already played Kim Yu-shin in the historic MBC drama Gye Baek in 2011. Taking on the character again 15 years later, expectations are high as to how the now more experienced actor will reinterpret this iconic hero.
