The new drama "Born Guilty”is already attracting attention with the announcement of its main cast. Park Seo-joon, Um Tae-goo and Jo Hye-joo have been confirmed for this ambitious Disney+ project. Here are the photos of the script reading.
Adapted from a webtoon, this crime noir drama is set in a lawless city in the 1980s, in the midst of urban transformation before the Seoul Olympics.
Park Seo-joon in a dark new role
Park Seo-joon plays the role of Paengi, a mysterious and dangerous character considered a true villain of his time. His arrival in a rapidly changing neighborhood will upset the existing balance.
By entering the drug trade, he draws other characters into his wake, triggering a spiral of chaos and high-risk decisions.
The actor confided: «It's a character and a story I've been waiting for. As an actor, it's a project I couldn't refuse. I think I'll be able to show a new side of myself through this role.»
A story of survival and dangerous choices
Opposite him, Um Tae-goo plays Saeng-dak, a gang member whose life is turned upside down after betraying his organization to follow Paengi into a unique opportunity.
Meanwhile, Jo Hye-joo plays Bok-hee, a key figure in the drug trade and Paengi's first love. Her return to Paengi's life could well turn the whole story on its head.
Um Tae-goo said, «The project features a wide variety of characters and the script is very interesting. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.»
Jo Hye-joo added: «I was impressed by the historical context and the characters» unique motivations. It's a very captivating project."
With its dark atmosphere, high stakes and complex characters, “Born Guilty” promises to be an intense drama.
The series is scheduled for broadcast in 2027 on Disney+.
