The actor Park Hyung-sik will soon be making its comeback in a romantic comedy ! According to entertainment industry sources quoted by Sports Chosun on November 12, Park Hyung-sik has been chosen to the lead role in the new drama "Grumpy Romance" (working title). This series will feature 2 characters who have had a difficult past relationship and who now find themselves in a hierarchical relationship in the officebetween boss and employee, giving rise to a power play of love, resentment and new emotions.
A romantic comedy set against a backdrop of professional rivalry
Park Hyung-sik will play Na Jung-seokThe authoritarian CEO of a start-up, a former military superior nicknamed "the Viper", who finds the woman he once commanded in the army as his subordinate.
The drama will explore explosive reunion of these 2 characters, now forced to work together despite their memories of military service.
Park Hyung-sik has already made a name for himself in office romances, notably in Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon, confirming his status as one of the genre's best-known names.
The long-awaited return of a Rom-com King
The actor has built up a varied filmography without limiting himself to a single register, but it was in romantic comedy that he enjoyed one of his greatest successes with Strong Woman Do Bong-soon, in which he played the eccentric CEO Ahn Min-hyuk. The drama had reached a national audience rating of 9.7 % (Nielsen Korea) and contributed to his nickname of "Romcom King".
Since his return from military service, Park Hyung-sik has won audiences over with his roles in Happiness, Our Blooming Youth (Cheongchunwoldam), and Doctor Slump, where his romantic gaze made hearts tumble. More recently, he shone in Buried Hearts, whose ratings peaked at 15,4 %making him a serious contender for the end-of-year acting awards.
With Grumpy Romance, Park Hyung-sik returns to his first love: a romantic comedy full of tension and charmwhich is already generating great anticipation.
The series is currently in talks with a global OTT platform for broadcast, and casting for Park Hyung-sik is currently being finalized.
