The drama "Gold Land" continues to unveil its universe with new images from Park Bo-young in a role quite different from his previous projects. This thriller promises to plunge her character into a spiral of desire and survival.
The story follows Kim Hee-joo, a security guard at an international airport, who accidentally finds herself in possession of gold ingots linked to a smuggling ring. This chance encounter soon propels her into the heart of a dangerous game in which everyone is desperate to get their hands on the fortune.
A character torn between desire and survival
Kim Hee-joo discovers a colossal sum, estimated at 150 billion won, and is faced with a dilemma: to flee or to keep the gold.
As the story unfolds, she must hide the ingots while being pursued, making increasingly risky decisions to survive. This journey gradually transforms her, making her oscillate between the instinct to survive and her attraction to this wealth.
The new images reveal a marked heroine, particularly when faced with her reflection, as if making an irreversible choice.
A striking transformation for Park Bo-young
To play this role, Park Bo-young underwent a significant physical transformation, seeking to visually convey his character's tension and exhaustion.
The actress explained: «Kim Hee-joo is a strong character who goes through many changes. This time, I wanted to show a face struggling to survive, even in an exhausted state.»
She adds: «I gradually got closer to Hee-joo. I did everything possible, even the most intense things.»
For his part, director Kim Seong-hoon emphasizes the intended contrast: «I wanted to show how ordinary desire can grow through Park Bo-young, who is the opposite of this image.»
The 10-episode drama will air from April 29 with the first 2 episodes, followed by 2 episodes a week on Disney+.
