As the broadcast of « Positively Yours" , Oh Yeon-seo talked about why she decided to take on this new romantic project, and about her chemistry with Choi Jin-hyuk.
Adapted from a popular webtoon, Positively Yours tells the story of the unexpected consequences of a one-night stand between two adults who had both sworn never to marry. Oh Yeon-seo plays Jang Hui-won, a brilliant workaholic who puts her heart and soul into her job... but is a complete novice when it comes to love.
The actress explains that she was convinced by two key elements: her character and the creative team.
«I've already worked with director Kim Jin-sung on The Player 2: Master of Swindlers, I have very fond memories of him. I had great confidence in him,» she confides. She adds: «I also really enjoyed reading the script for Positively Yours. I was immediately drawn to the character of Jang Hui-won, and thought it would be great fun to play her.»
A realistic heroine and a strong chemistry with Choi Jin-hyuk
When asked about the similarities between herself and her character, Oh Yeon-seo reckons there's some overlap: «I'd say about 30 %. Like Hui-won, I'm very serious about my work and always do my best. But I'd also like to learn from her: her sincerity, her warm approach to others, her intelligence, competence and positive energy.»
On the romance front, the actress makes no secret of her confidence in the main couple's dynamic. Of her on-screen partner, Choi Jin-hyuk, she says without hesitation: «If I had to rate our chemistry, I'd give him 100 out of 100. He's always thoughtful and willing to compromise. Our understanding as actors is very fluid, teamwork comes naturally, and it's really nice to play with him.»
Oh Yeon-seo also talks about the scenes that made the biggest emotional impact on her at the start of the drama, particularly those where Hui-won is faced with difficult life choices. «There's a scene with her mother, and another where she has to choose between her future and her child. I asked myself, “What if this really happened in life?” Whatever the decision, it's bound to be painful and exhausting. It took a lot of thought to express these emotions, and I hope viewers can deeply identify with Hui-won.»
In conclusion, the actress sends a warm message to the public: «I hope that Positively Yours will be a drama capable of bringing a little warmth during the winter. All the characters are engaging, and beyond Hui-won and Du-jun's story, I think viewers will enjoy following this romance.»
