The next ENA channel drama, My Golden Starpromises to be as crazy as it is touching. In a first poster and teaser unveiled today, the series features Jang Da-ah in the role of a Hallyu star who wakes up... 25 years later, in the body of a 50-year-old woman played by Uhm Jung-hwa !
A star gone, a memory gone, a new life
My Golden Star is a romantic comedy with an original concept: Im Se-ra (played by Jang Da-ah), adored idol and top Korean star, mysteriously disappears before waking up one day as a Bong Cheong-ja (Uhm Jung-hwa), an ordinary housewife in her fifties. She has no memory of the last 25 years.
Disoriented and in denial, she crosses paths with Dokgo Chul (performed by Song Seung-heon), a former top detective demoted to traffic duty. Far from being impressed by this stranger's claims to be a missing celebrity, he ends up asking questions...
A poster that speaks volumes
The poster shows Im Se-ra, in her pink evening dress, staring at her reflection in the mirror. But what she discovers in the mirror stuns her: she sees an older woman, modestly dressed, wearing cleaning gloves... The slogan is unmistakable: "I woke up and 25 years were gone?!"
First teaser with humor and emotion
In the teaser, Bong Cheong Ja refuses to believe in her new reality. Facing the mirror, she screams: "What?! Are you telling me I'm 50?!" Once dubbed "Korea's first love", she finds herself thrust into a mundane, anonymous life, far removed from the spotlight.
Dokgo Chul, for his part, looks at her indifferently at first. When she asks him, sunglasses on: "You recognize me, don't you?"he replies coldly: "Should I?" But before long, the shadow of a doubt creeps in... What if it really was about the Im Se-ra?
With its blend of fantasy, humor and emotion, My Golden Star promises to explore universal themes such as the passage of time, identity and the quest for self. The duo Uhm Jung-hwa / Song Seung-heonis already arousing the curiosity of fans. Broadcast from August 18 on ENA.
