SBS has lifted the veil on « Manager Kim »during 2025 SBS Drama Awards, with the release of a special teaser that immediately sets the tone. Adapted from a popular webtoon, this new action-noir drama stars So Ji-sub in a dual role, where the banality of everyday life hides carefully buried violence.
An unremarkable employee... until the irreparable happened.
At first glance, Manager Kim is just one employee among many. With his glasses perched on his nose and his unassuming posture, he bows to his superiors and apologizes without argument. He sums it up himself with deceptive calm: «We're just a bunch of old men wearing glasses.»
This excessive attitude even annoys his daughter Min-ji, who exclaims in exasperation, «Dad, don't you have any pride?»
But this facade suddenly crumbles when Min-ji is kidnapped. The discreet father disappears, giving way to a cold and methodical machine, ready to do anything to find his child.
A forbidden past resurfaces
The teaser then reveals the truth: Manager Kim is a former North Korean elite agent, now blacklisted, whose very existence must remain secret in South Korea. Forced out of the shadows, he reverts to what he has always been: a formidable fighter, expert in firearms and close combat.
Facing his enemies, he leaves no room for doubt: «I'm letting you live only because I believe my daughter is still alive. Otherwise, you, your friends, and your family will die by my own hands.»
At his side, two equally dangerous allies return to action: Sung Han-soo (Choi Dae-hoon), former taekwondo gold medalist turned secret agent, and Park Jin-chul (Yoon Kyeong-ho), an uncontrollable legend on the battlefield. Three men, three fathers, forcibly brought back to a world they thought they had left behind forever.
Manager Kim raises a key question: how far can you go to protect your family when the past threatens to destroy everything?
The drama will be broadcast in 2026 on SBS, on Friday–Saturday.
