The thriller « Mad Concrete Dreams »continues to reveal its characters ahead of its broadcast on March 14. The new images show Shim Eun-kyung and Kim Jun-han in roles that should strongly influence the plot.
The series follows Ki Soo-jong, a struggling landlord who becomes involved in a fake kidnapping to protect his family and his building. But the operation goes wrong and turns into a real crime, dragging everyone around him into a dangerous spiral.
A cool agent at the heart of the renovation project
Shim Eun-kyung plays the role of Yo-na, a mysterious operator for Real Capital, the company in charge of an urban redevelopment project in the Soo-jong district. Behind its official image, the company will do anything to achieve its goals.
Yo-na is aloof, methodical and unattached. On her way to Korea to solve the project's problems, she crosses Soo-jong's path and doesn't hesitate to threaten him. The first images show her dressed in a black suit, her gaze impassive, creating immediate tension around her character.
Production stresses that the actress has worked meticulously on her role to accentuate the series' suspense.
An ambitious friend ready to push the limits
Kim Jun-han plays Min Hwal-seong, Soo-jong's close friend and husband of the wealthy Jeon Yi-kyung (Krystal). Despite his advantageous marriage, he lives under the financial dependence of his in-laws and struggles to gain their recognition.
After several professional failures, Hwal-seong's ambition is growing. Feeling superior to Soo-jong, he even offers to sell him his building before it is renovated. In his quest for success, he hatches a series of schemes to raise money, but his maneuvers eventually spiral out of control.
On-screen, he comes across as a caring husband, but his worried, calculating gaze hints at a darker agenda. His ambition should put Soo-jong in danger and complicate their relationship.
Between real estate speculation, social pressure and criminal drift, «Mad Concrete Dreams» promises a tense thriller where every choice leads to unpredictable consequences.
The series will be broadcast from March 14 (no OTT yet).
