An unexpected new duo arrives on Disney+ with Low Lifean original series that promises as much action as emotion. Carried by Ryu Seung-ryong and Yang Se-jongThis rural whodunit follows an uncle and nephew on a frantic quest to track down a missing man. sunken treasure... but above all they risk finding themselves.

Adapted from a webtoon, "Low Life" (Korean title: 파인: 촌뜨기들) takes place in the late 1970s, when a group of modest inhabitants of an island in southwest Korea set out to find a ship loaded with gold lost at the bottom of the ocean. Among them, Oh Gwan-seok (Ryu Seung-ryong), a man with a troubled past but a well-tailored suit, embarks with his nephew Oh Hee-dong (Yang Se-jong), a resourceful young man in a leather jacket who's never really had a chance.
The new images show the 2 men side by side, by the sea. While their posture appears complicit, a palpable tension runs through their relationship. Gwan Seok plays a tough but protective mentor, almost a father figure to Hee Dong, whom he tries to initiate into the art of surviving (and making money) in a ruthless world.

But as the journey progresses, the friction builds up. Generational differences, conflicting values and internal struggles transform this treasure hunt into a identity quest. Another scene shows the two of them carrying an enormous vat filled with ceramics, a symbol of their labor and hopes. Because beyond gold, it's also recognition and freedom that everyone is striving for.
Behind the scenes, the complicity between the 2 actors is as strong as that of their characters. Ryu Seung-ryong confides fondly that Yang Se-jong is "like a son" to him, praising his seriousness on the set. For his part, Yang Se-jong admires his eldest son, who carefully supervises him right down to the smallest rehearsal.
Low Life on Disney+ from July 16 (also available in France!) with a launch of 3 episodesfollowed by 2 episodes each week (July 23 and 30, August 6 and 13), for a total of 11 episodes.
