JTBC begins to lift the veil on " Love Me" the Korean remake of the Swedish series of the same name. This revisited version explores the cracks in a family where, in spite of appearances, everyone is deeply lonely while searching for their own way to love and rebuild. The first teaser unveiled paints an intimate, almost painful portrait of a home where love exists, but no longer knows how to manifest itself.
The video begins by introducing Seo Joon-kyung (Seo Hyun-jin), his father Seo Jin-ho (Yoo Jae-myung) and his younger brother Seo Joon-seo (Lee Si-woo). At first glance, they seem to be getting on with their lives as best they can, but the camera reveals what each of them is trying to hide: an overwhelming sense of loneliness that consumes them from within.
A seemingly close-knit family, but broken in silence
Joon-kyung convinces herself that she likes peace and quiet, but her restless nights and lonely walks in a sleepy city tell a different story. Then a voice calls out to her: "Apart from being alone, what can you do when you're alone?" A sentence that sounds like a confession.
For his part, Jin-ho has been tirelessly caring for his wife Kim Mi-ran (Jang Hye-jin) since her accident. He keeps smiling, remains patient, but finally admits in a breath: "To be honest, I'm very tired." A heartfelt, almost heartbreaking statement.
As for Joon-seo, he gives the image of a free-spirited, carefree young man, who throws one party after another. Yet behind the energy and superficial laughter, he confides: "I think I'm the loneliest person in the world."
Cracked family ties and a foretold drama
When the 3 reunite, arguments break out. They reproach each other for being selfish, unable to see the pain of others. A silent but constant war of unhealed wounds. The mood changes abruptly when Joon-kyung hints that their family is about to fall apart: "One day, this family of four suddenly became three." A sentence that heralds Mi-ran's imminent death.
The teaser concludes with a violent scene: the three remaining members are caught in a car accident. Joon-kyung then whispers, "I really don't think we're a good family for each other." A raw confession that sums up the series' central vulnerability.
Love Me will start airing on December 19 at 8:50pm KST on JTBC (awaiting international broadcaster).
