SBS begins to unveil its new drama “My Royal Nemesis”(also known as “Wicked World”), a romantic comedy that's already shaping up to be as original as it is offbeat.
At the heart of the story, Lim Ji-yeon stars as Shin Seo-ri, a struggling actress whose life is suddenly turned upside down when she is possessed by the spirit of a formidable antagonist from the Joseon era. Opposite her, Heo Nam-joon plays Cha Se-gye, a cold, ruthless chaebol heir described as a “monster shaped by capitalism”.
With this explosive duo, the drama promises a tasty mix of romance, social satire and the clash of eras.
A historical villain propelled into modern Korea
The unveiled poster features Kang Dan-shim, the famous Joseon villain who takes possession of Shin Seo-ri's body. The visual staging plays on an artistic effect inspired by traditional Korean screens adorned with mother-of-pearl, giving the impression that the character has emerged directly from an ancient work.

Thrust into 21st-century Korea, Kang Dan-shim discovers a totally unfamiliar world. Between skyscrapers and modern cars, her gaze mixes surprise and incomprehension, promising situations as comic as they are unsettling.
“My Royal Nemesis” will begin airing on May 8 at 9:50pm (Korean time) on SBS and will be available on Netflix.
