SBS's upcoming drama « Wicked World »is shaping up to be one of the most daring projects of 2026. The first images unveiled feature Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-joon, The result is an explosive romance where past and present collide violently.
Presented on February 10 at SBS's 2026 programming reveal, the drama blends romance, supernatural possession and social critique in a world described as intense and unpredictable.
An actress possessed by a cursed Joseon figure
Lim Ji-yeon plays Shin Seo-ri, an unknown actress whose career is struggling to take off. Her life is turned upside down when she finds herself possessed by the spirit of Kang Dan-sim, an infamous woman from the Joseon era. Accused of an «unforgivable crime», Kang Dan-sim was forced to drink poison in her final moments.
Suddenly waking up in 2026, trapped in Shin Seo-ri's body, Kang Dan-sim discovers a totally foreign world, until she finds herself on the set of a historical drama. This shift in time and identity places the character in a situation that is as confusing as it is dangerous, between ancient anger and the instinct to survive.

A fatal encounter with the “monster of capitalism”.”
It's against this backdrop that Kang Dan-sim, now a prisoner of modern life, crosses paths with Cha Se-gye, played by Heo Nam-jun. A wealthy heir and ruthless executive, he's nicknamed the «monster of capitalism» for his total lack of scruples and overwhelming domination of his environment.
The first meeting between the 2 characters, captured in the unveiled images, hints at a relationship marked by tension, attraction and conflict. Their bond seems dictated by fate, but above all promises a violent, unstable and deeply unsettling romance, where neither is truly innocent.
The drama is directed by Han Tae-seobknown for Stove League and Cheer Up, written by up-and-coming screenwriter Kang Hyun-joo. Together, they promise a tale on the borderline between fantasy, melodrama and social satire.
Wicked World is scheduled for release in may 2026 on SBS.
