Korean productions continue to make their mark internationally. Several Kdramas, including “Perfect Crown”but also « Sacred Jewel« will be presented in France at the Cannes International Series Festival, a major event dedicated to series from around the world.
Held from April 23 to 28 in Cannes, this 9th edition will bring together a host of industry professionals for screenings, meetings and project presentations.
A strategy to attract international investors
On this occasion, several Korean institutions will be showcasing high-potential dramas through presentations aimed at foreign broadcasters and investors.
Four series were selected for a presentation session dedicated to exports: “Filing for love”, “Bloody Flower”, “Gokdu” and “Perfect Crown”. The aim is clear: to boost the visibility of Korean content and encourage its distribution worldwide.
At the same time, other dramas will be screened at special events open to the public. These include “Sacred Jewel”, “Everything About You” and “Genfluencer”, all of which will be given special prominence at screenings accompanied by audience discussions.
A number of actors will also be making the trip to support these productions, including Ahn Bo-hyun, Claudia Kim, Chani, Bae Yoon-kyung and Moon Ji-in, who will be taking part in meetings and interviews on site.
The organizers emphasized their desire to further support the export of Korean content, in order to facilitate its connection with international markets.
With this reinforced presence at Cannes, K-dramas confirm their global ambition and their ability to appeal to an ever-wider audience. In any case, we're delighted that France is giving more and more importance to its kdramas (although we find it paradoxical that we're showing 2 Disney+ kdramas that the platform isn't even doing us the honor of showing in France...).
