A new project could soon be added to his filmography. Lee Sung-kyung. The actress is currently in talks to play the lead role in the drama « Swan Laundry« a warm-hearted series combining everyday life and mystery.
On February 4, Korean media outlet SPOTV News reported that Lee Sung-kyung had received a casting proposal for the project. His agency, Fantagio, confirmed the information, stating that it was «one of the projects it is currently considering».
A laundromat at the heart of human stories
Swan Laundry is the adaptation of Lee Jae In's novel «We'll Solve It in Style, Swan Laundry». The drama is a slice-of-life mystery set in the coastal town of Yeosu.
The story follows Baek Eun-jo, the daughter and new manager of an old and respected laundromat. Still a novice in this role, she doesn't just handle requests for cleaning or alterations: as the days go by, she finds herself involved in mysterious little affairs and everyday incidents, linked to the customers who come through the laundromat's door.
Through these discreet investigations, the drama promises to paint a portrait of a community, its secrets and its ordinary wounds, in a gentle, intimate atmosphere.
A nuanced role for Lee Sung-kyung
If confirmed, Lee Sung-kyung could play a heroine rooted in reality, far removed from glamorous or intensely dramatic characters. Baek Eun-jo is described as an imperfect young woman, attentive to others, who learns to grow by repairing both clothes... and the lives that go with them.
At the same time, Lee Sung-kyung is already preparing for a return to the public with his next MBC drama « In Your Radiant Season« expected soon. Swan Laundry could thus mark a natural continuity in a filmography increasingly focused on human, introspective narratives.
