A new duo could soon be born in the sageuk world. According to Korean media, Lee Min-ho and Moon Ga-young are currently in talks to play the lead roles in the historical drama " Scent of the Night " (working title).
Their respective agencies have confirmed that the project is among the proposals they are considering, leaving a cautious enthusiasm surrounding a potential collaboration. The drama would adapt a webtoon set in the Joseon era, in a society where women were strongly oppressed. At the heart of the story: a heroine who refuses her destiny and a man ready to love her while concealing the desires he cannot assume.
A tale of passion in oppressive Joseon
In this romantic, tragic and provocative story, Lee Min-ho is said to have been approached to play Seo Jae-hason of a butcher whose life is turned upside down after his father's death. Taken in by Seo Dong-won, the richest man in Hanyang, he grows up under a new identity, while harboring complex feelings towards his adopted sister, Seo Hong.
Moon Ga-young was offered the role of Seo HongA young woman who refuses to accept the place that society tries to impose on her, and who follows her own desires at all costs.
The drama will be directed by Lee Eung-bokone of the most influential directors on the small screen, behind Descendants of the Sun, Goblin, Mr. Sunshine, the Sweet Home saga and Dear X. The release date and platform are still unknown, but the announcement has already aroused the curiosity of fans.
