As the broadcast of « Spring Fever" , Lee Joo-bin shares his thoughts on this new role, marked by gentleness and hidden wounds. This romantic comedy tells the story of the encounter between Yoon Bom, an emotionally distant high school teacher, and Seon Jae-gyu (Ahn Bo-hyun), a passionate man who gradually breaks through the shell she has built around herself.
A wounded woman behind an apparent serenity
Lee Joo-bin plays Yoon Bom, a mysterious teacher who intrigues the residents of a coastal village. Once popular and beloved in Seoul thanks to her natural charm, Yoon Bom cut herself off from her emotions after a traumatic event, choosing to start her life over at a high school in the countryside.
The actress confides, «When I first read the script, I felt that I could enjoy playing Yoon Bom, which really made me want to accept the role.» She adds that the seaside setting of the shoot gave her the impression of «traveling every day,» reinforcing her enthusiasm.
Describing her character, she explains: «Yoon Bom is a teacher who arrives at a rural school with a closed heart. On the outside, she appears calm, but on the inside, she carries wounds and a great loneliness. As she is a multidimensional character where light and shadow coexist, I paid close attention to emotional balance.»
A first role as a teacher and seamless chemistry with Ahn Bo-hyun
For the first time in her career, Lee Joo-bin takes on the role of a teacher. She reveals that she worked hard on the details: «I practiced writing on the blackboard so that the classroom scenes would look natural. Since I had to write while saying my lines, I paid attention to my gestures, eye contact, and the rhythm of my voice.» " She explains that she adjusted her tone and attitude to make her relationship with the students believable.
To sum up Yoon Bom, the actress chooses three words : «cat,» «transparency,» and «principles.» She explains: «She is very cautious at first, but once she opens her heart, she becomes warmer than anyone else. Even though she thinks she is hiding her emotions, they are clearly visible in her expressions and gestures. » She adds that, despite her elegant appearance, Yoon Bom is rather conservative and attached to rules, a trait consistent with her profession as a professor of ethics.
Lee Joo-bin also talks about her rapport with her co-stars: «The team works very well together. There were more action scenes than I had imagined, and Ahn Bo-hyun is very comfortable in this genre, which helped me a lot. Thanks to him, we were able to shoot the tense scenes without any difficulty.»
