Good news for fans of Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun The 2 actors will star in a new romantic comedy adapted from a popular webtoon. Tentatively titled The Persevering Doctor / The Last-Stand Doctor (formerly Doctor Jonbeo), the drama plunges viewers into the daily life of a doctor and nurse sent to the mysterious island of Pyeondong.
A doctor with a painful past and a nurse with a secret destiny
Lee Jae-wook stars as Do Ji-eui, a former university hospital plastic surgeon. Marked by a trauma linked to the islands and the ocean, he finds himself reluctantly assigned to Pyeondong. But what looks set to be a difficult assignment will gradually become a turning point in his life.
Opposite him, Shin Ye-eun plays Yook Ha-ri, a nurse with a troubled past, transferred from a major hospital to this isolated medical center. Determined, she ignores rumors and devotes herself to helping those who cross her path, especially a certain doctor whom she seems determined to support at all costs.

A promising duo and an eagerly awaited romantic comedy
At the official announcement, Lee Jae-wook said "This is the first time I've taken on the role of a doctor, so I'm both anxious and excited. It will be a new challenge and a valuable experience." For her part, Shin Ye-eun shared her enthusiasm: "From the moment I read the script, I was convinced that this drama would be really fun. I want to create it with confidence."
With its mix of romance, personal secrets and island landscapes, The Persevering Doctor promises to be both tender and intriguing. Scheduled to air on 2026 on ENA, and no doubt the chemistry between the two actors will be closely watched by fans.
