A highly anticipated new spy drama is in the works. Lee Byung-hun, Han Ji-min and Lee Hee-joon have been confirmed in the cast of “The Koreans”A Korean adaptation of the American series “The Americans”.
Set in Seoul in the 1990s, the drama blends suspense, emotion and human conflict in an everyday setting in the heart of a residential neighborhood.

A trio at the heart of permanent tension
Lee Byung-hun plays Kim Myung-joon, an elite North Korean spy who has been living undercover in South Korea for over ten years. Behind his seemingly ordinary life lies a secret identity and a mission that could change everything.

Alongside him, Han Ji-min will play Yoon Hwa-kyung, his wife... also a spy. Their relationship, built on lies and concealment, promises to explore complex emotions between duty, love and survival.

Opposite them, Lee Hee-joon plays Cha Ki-seok, an investigator specializing in counter-espionage. Moving in next door to the couple, he becomes a direct threat, ratcheting up the tension with every interaction.

Espionage and human drama
“The Koreans” isn't just about spies. The drama promises to explore in depth the human relationships, moral dilemmas and inner conflicts of its characters.
Between secrets, surveillance and hidden identities, the face-off between these three protagonists should offer constant psychological tension.
The project is directed by Ahn Gil-ho, known for “The Glory”, with a screenplay by Park Eun-kyo.
With a top-notch cast and a suspenseful universe, “The Koreans” promises to be a modern, intense retelling of the espionage genre.
The drama is scheduled for release in 2027 on Disney+.
