A remake of the American series The Americans

Koreans promises to be a Korean remake of the successful American series The Americansaired between 2013 and 2018 on FX. The original story followed a couple of Russian agents who infiltrated the United States during the Cold War. In this Korean version, the plot will be transposed to the divided Korean peninsula, bringing a new political and emotional dimension to the story.

This potential return to a spy drama is all the more striking given that Lee Byung-hun had already made his mark in Iris in 2009, still considered one of the pillars of the genre in South Korea. His participation in Koreans would create quite an event, especially as the as-yet-unknown female cast is already arousing curiosity.

The series, produced by Studio AAis currently under negotiation with major international streaming platforms. The budget is expected to be substantial, Koreans could be part of the K-dramas with worldwide appeal.

While nothing is yet official, Lee Byung-hun's agency has confirmed that the offer is on the table and is being considered "positively". If the actor accepts, the explosive duo he would form with director Ahn Gil-ho promises a drama of breathless suspense and meticulous direction.

A case to be followed very closely. Stay tuned, we'll share more info as it becomes available!
