The thriller « Mad Concrete Dreams »reveals a little more with the publication of his first teaser, The tone is set: dark, tense and deeply rooted in social reality. With a cast as unexpected as it is prestigious, the series will be broadcast from March 14 on tvN.
A real estate dream turns into a nightmare
Mad Concrete Dreams follows Ki Soo-jong (Ha Jung-woo), an ordinary family man willing to do anything to become a property owner. After taking out hefty loans, he finally achieves his coveted status... only to find himself choking on debt. From the very first seconds of the teaser, the unease sets in as he bitterly blurts out, «Owning a building isn't as easy as you think.»
His wife Kim Seon, played by Im Soo-jung, shares this latent anxiety and asks: «How long has it been since we put it up for sale at the agency?» A seemingly innocuous sentence, but one that reveals a financial situation already on the verge of collapse.
Cornered, Soo Jong agrees to take part in a fake kidnapping that is supposed to give him financial breathing space. But this fragile plan quickly goes awry, transforming a controlled staging into an uncontrollable criminal spiral.
Opposing desires around the same building
The teaser also highlights the divergent interests of the characters revolving around this building, which has become the central issue. Min Hwal Seong (Kim Jun-han), Soo Jong's close friend, calmly advances: «Do you want to sell me the building?», leaving doubt as to his true intentions.
At his side, his wife Jeon Yi-kyung (Krystal) displays a disturbing casualness about money: «What's money got to do with it, anyway?» A striking contrast to the anguish of the other characters.
Finally, Yo Na (Shim Eun-kyung), a mysterious figure linked to capital, makes a chilling proposal: «3 billion won. How's that?» An offer that seems to seal everyone's entry into a downward spiral whose consequences are no longer under anyone's control.$
Through these short but powerful exchanges, the teaser sketches out a drama where ambition, greed, fear and survival collide, foreshadowing a gradual rise in tension.
