JTBC's new drama « Shining »is beginning to take shape. In the run-up to its release, the production has unveiled images of the very first script reading, bringing together the creative team and the main cast for a project under the banner of nostalgia, pent-up emotions and the reunion of lovers.

Directed by Kim Yoon-jin (Our Beloved Summer) and written by Lee Sook-yeon (A Piece of Your Mind), the series focuses on young adults who, having shared a world of their own in their youth, gradually become a source of comfort, trust and light for each other.

Park Jinyoung and Kim Min-ju at the heart of a love suspended in time

During this reading, Park Jinyoung immediately established himself in the role of Yeon Tae-seo, a subway conductor with a lucid outlook on life. Behind an apparent coldness, his character hides deep tenderness and untouched memories of his first love at the age of 19. With his measured, precise performance, the actor was able to convey the silent emotions of a man anchored in the present, but still inhabited by the past.

Facing him, Kim Min-ju plays Mo Eun-ah, a former hotelier turned manager of a traditional house in Seoul. Her performance was remarkable for its ability to navigate naturally between the spontaneous freshness of adolescence and the emotional maturity of adulthood, already giving her character a great deal of depth.

A solid secondary cast and an already palpable chemistry

The reading also highlighted performances from Shin Jae-ha, who plays Bae Seong-chan, Mo Eun-ah's benevolent mentor in the hotel business, and Park Se-hyun as Im Ah-sol, a tax accountant who has long harbored silent feelings for Yeon Tae-seo.

From the very first encounter with the text, the chemistry between the actors was palpable. Between concentration, slight nervousness and shared enthusiasm, they all seemed already perfectly invested in this intimate universe, foreshadowing a sensitive drama carried by sincere emotions and delicate writing.

Shining will be broadcast from March 6, 8:50pm (KST) on JTBC. Waiting for an OTT.
