JTBC's next drama « We Are All Trying Here», starring Koo Kyo-hwan and Go Youn-jung, is set to debut next month. Ahead of its broadcast, the production has unveiled a first poster that already sets the tone for this introspective series centered on the doubts and frustrations of a generation in search of meaning.

The drama tells the story of a person surrounded by friends who all seem to have made a success of their lives. Convinced that he's the only one whose destiny doesn't work out as planned, the protagonist finds himself overwhelmed by anxiety, jealousy and a deep sense of failure, while desperately seeking some form of inner peace.

The long-awaited return of screenwriter Park Hae-young

The series marks the return of screenwriter Park Hae-young, widely acclaimed for her landmark works such as My Mister and My Liberation Notes. These dramas, renowned for their sensitive writing and deeply human characters, have left their mark on audiences with their exploration of everyday emotions and difficulties.

The cast features several well-known actors, including Koo Kyo-hwan, Go Youn-jung, Oh Jung-se, Kang Mal-geum and Park Hae-joon, promising a strong cast to carry this introspective story.

A symbolic poster for an inner battle

The unveiled poster introduces Hwang Dong-man, played by Koo Kyo-hwan. This character has been pursuing his dream of becoming a film director for twenty years, but his path seems to be the only one that never leads to success among his friends in the film world, all of whom have become recognized professionals.

This situation fosters a deep-seated inferiority complex. To mask the sense of emptiness that gnaws at him, Dong-man hides his anxiety behind incessant talk and a bravado attitude.

On the poster, the figure appears seated alone, hunched over, in an almost resigned posture. Yet the imposing shadow behind him tells a very different story: it seems to be throwing a punch against an invisible force, symbolizing the ongoing battle in his mind.

The production team explains: «The poster illustrates the inner darkness that gives rise to the feeling of uselessness through the symbol of the shadow. Although Dong-man may appear to have given up, there are still many struggles within him. We hope that his cry from the depths of despair will become a message of support for all those struggling with their own sense of worthlessness.»
