A new comedy-drama is set to hit our screens in 2026, and it promises to mix laughter, emotion and... military cuisine! Kitchen Soldier (working title, alternate title "The Legend of the Kitchen Soldier") will bring together Park Ji-hoon, Yoon Kyeong-ho, Han Dong-hee and Lee Hong-nae around a scenario as original as it is offbeat.

Adapted from a webtoon and a web novel that are very popular in Korea, the series broadcast on TVING brings us will plunge you into the unexpected daily life of a soldier who swaps rifle and ammunition for a kitchen knife and an apron. Far from the battlefield, Kitchen Soldier explores the life of an army cook who, instead of aiming at the enemy, targets his comrades' stomachs and perhaps a little their morale too.
Cast revealed
Park Ji-hoon (Weak Hero Class) plays Kang Sung-jae, a young recruit who was once a model pupil during his military training, but has fallen from grace for reasons that remain mysterious. Guided by a strange voice, he agrees to join the kitchen unit, hoping to find in this new mission a form of redemption and, why not, glory.
At his side, Yoon Kyeong-ho (The Truma code) will lend his features to Sergeant Park Jae-young, nicknamed "the ticking time bomb" because of the many blunders that have held back his promotions. The arrival of a soldier as unpredictable as Kang Sung-jae is unlikely to make his days any easier.

Han Dong-hee (Ghost train) will play the role of First Lieutenant Cho Ye-rin, a strong-willed officer known for saying out loud what others whisper in hushed tones. A former cadet at a women's university, her presence at the remote Gangrim Outpost is intriguing, and her well-ordered daily routine is about to be shattered.
Finally, Lee Hong-nae (Demon catchers, Hot blooded) will play Sergeant Yoon Dong-hyun, head cook feared for his... total lack of palate. With only a hundred days to go before his release from the service, he was hoping for a smooth end to his career, but the arrival of Kang Sung Jae may well turn everything upside down.
The team behind the camera
Its scriptwriter, Choi RyongHe himself is a former military cook, and promises a realistic immersion full of anecdotes. The show will be directed by Jo Nam-hyung, whose meticulous visual style and sense of rhythm suggest a balanced blend of comedy and emotion.
Through situations that are sometimes hilarious, sometimes touching, the series will shed light on these soldiers of the shadows who rise before everyone else and finish after the others to serve their comrades three meals a day. All in the form of a "quest": from level 1 to legend status, Kang Sung-jae will have to learn to wield the ladle as others wield the bayonet.
