tvN's next drama « 100 Days of Lies »(working title) has confirmed its main cast. On March 6, the channel announced that Kim You-jung, GOT7's Park Jin-young, Kim Hyun-joo, Lee Moo-saeng and Jin Sun-kyu will play the lead roles in the new series.
Directed by Yoo In-shik, known for Extraordinary Attorney Woo and the Dr. Romantic, The drama will take the form of a spy romance set during the Japanese occupation of Korea.
The story follows the dangerous relationship between a notorious pickpocket from Gyeongseong (the old name for Seoul) who becomes a spy for the independence movement, and the adopted son of the Inspector General of Korea, one of the highest-ranking officials of the Japanese colonial government.
A 100-day secret mission
Kim You-jung plays Lee Ga-kyung, Gyeongseong's most famous pickpocket. As she saves money to realize her dream of moving to the USA, she receives an impossible-to-refuse proposition: infiltrate the Japanese colonial government for 100 days, posing as an interpreter.
Park Jin-young will play Kim Tae-woong, an elite interpreter recently appointed to the Japanese General Government in Korea. The adopted son of the Inspector General, he is also known as Sato Hideo.
At a time when Japan is seeking to legitimize its control over Korea through propaganda, Kim Tae-woong, who is fluent in English, Japanese and Korean, returns to the country to take up a key role in the administration.
A network of spies and resistance fighters
Kim Hyun-joo plays Yoo So-ran, a sniper in the independence movement determined to take revenge on Sato Shinichi. After a ten-year absence, she returns to Korea under a new identity, pretending to be Chinese and married to Yoo Philip.
To carry out her plan to assassinate Sato Shinichi, she offers Lee Ga-kyung a risky mission that could change both their destinies.
Lee Moo-saeng plays Yoo Philip, a correspondent in Gyeongseong for an American media outlet. Korean-American and member of the independence movement, he uses his position as journalist to influence the Inspector General's decisions.
Finally, Jin Sun-kyu will play Sato Shinichi, Korea's new Inspector General and father of Sato Hideo. Ambitious and desperate for power, he becomes the main target of the resistance movement.
The drama 100 Days of Lies should be broadcast on tvN in the second half of 2026.
