The next drama Dear X from TVING has just unveiled a striking poster and trailer, revealing a Kim Yoo-jung unrecognizable from her usual roles. Underneath her angelic exterior, Baek Ah-jin hides a cruel, manipulative personality, ready to use anyone to achieve its ends.
A perfect actress... or a monster?
The main poster sets the tone: Baek Ah-jin stares impassively into the camera, as blood-red threads form an "X" in front of his face. The chilling tagline announces his descent into hell: "If life began in hell, wouldn't it be better to become a monster yourself?"
The trailer opens with an interview with the famous actress, whom everyone describes as "intelligent, kind and perfect". But the voice of a former classmate shatters this illusion: "Baek Ah-jin is really cruel."
Behind his mask, Ah-jin manipulates those who cross his path: Yoon Joon-seo (Kim Young-dae), Kim Jae-oh (Kim Do-hoon), Heo In-kang (Hwang In-youp) and Choi Jung-ho (Kim Ji-hun), all trapped by her venomous charm.
One of Yoon Joon-seo's lines sums up the complexity of their relationship: "At the time, I thought I was doing it for Ah-jin."
