After almost a decade of waiting, Kim Woo-bin and Suzy finally come together on screen in Genie, Make a Wisha Korean Netflix original series that blends romance, mystery and the supernatural. Scheduled for worldwide release on October 3, just before the Korean Chuseok, this new production is already shaping up to be an event for K-drama fans.

An unlikely romance between a human and a thousand-year-old spirit

The story plunges us into Ka Young's intertwined destiny (performed by Suzy), a cold and detached young woman, and Genie (Kim Woo-bin), an enigmatic spirit locked away in a magic lamp for over 1,000 years. When she accidentally discovers the ancient object, Ka Young unwittingly awakens this unusual genie, who promises to grant her 3 wishes that will turn her life upside down.

But there's no classic fairy-tale formula here. Genie is no simple miracle-worker: he introduces himself as "Iblis", a name associated in some traditions with the figure of the devil. As soon as she wakes up, he tells her in a disturbing tone: "I will cross the world to find you. Remember my name: Iblis." A statement that opens the door to a complex and fascinating relationship between the mystical and the emotionally locked Ka Young.

Bewitching visuals and explosive chemistry

The recently unveiled teaser shows a lone Ka Young in a scorching desert, lamp in hand. When the lamp lights up, a golden storm erupts, revealing Genie in a spectacular apparition. The tone is set: the series promises a strong, almost mystical visual universe, in the service of a story centered on the bond between two opposing souls destined to meet.

The enigmatic phrase on the poster, "Come now, to corruption"is a real curiosity. What does Genie's story really hide? How far will this romance of darkness and wonder go?

An iconic duo and a 5-star cast

One of the major attractions of Genie, Make a Wish lies in the reunion of Kim Woo-bin and Suzy, 8 years after their memorable collaboration in Uncontrollably Fond. He plays an intense, charismatic and disturbing genius, while she shines in a restrained, mysterious and profound role.

Around them, a solid cast enriches this supernatural adventure: Ahn Eun-jin, Noh Sang-hyun, Ko Gyu-pil and Lee Zoo-young, all familiar from the small screen, bring their unique touches to this whimsical, offbeat universe.

Under the guise of a light romantic comedy, Genie, Make a Wish tackles deeper themes: the power of desire, the weight of choices, modern loneliness. The series promises to be a subtle blend of humor, drama and magic, in line with the best of current Korean productions.
