The drama “Gold Land”continues to unveil its characters with new images focusing on Kim Sung-cheol, who promises a performance as intriguing as it is dangerous opposite Park Bo-young.

This Disney+ series follows Hee-ju, a security guard at an international airport, whose life is turned upside down when she comes into possession of gold ingots linked to a smuggling ring. The situation soon degenerates into betrayal, greed and inner struggle.

A character as charming as he is unpredictable

Kim Sung-cheol plays Woo Gi, a loan company employee who discovers Hee-ju's secret. He soon becomes close to her, adopting a friendly, almost reassuring attitude.

But behind this façade lies a man who's hard to pin down. Sometimes an ally, sometimes a potential threat, Woo Gi always seems ready to turn the situation to his advantage. His proximity to the heroine creates constant tension, fueled by unclear intentions and unpredictable choices.

The actor explained: “I tried not to give away too much of her thoughts to preserve the mystery. I wanted his looks, words and actions towards Kim Hee-ju to remain unpredictable. Above all, I wanted him to appear carefree yet capable of striking hard.”

Director Kim Seong-hoon also detailed his casting choice: “Woo Gi is a character who shapes his desires between the opportunity represented by gold and the presence of Kim Hee-ju. I thought Kim Sung-cheol's blend of charm and toughness was a perfect match for him.”

He adds: “He's an extremely well-prepared actor. By working in depth on his character and exploring different expressions, he managed to bring to life a figure that is both luminous and dangerous.”

With this ambiguous character, “Gold Land” promises a tense dynamic between its protagonists, where the boundary between trust and betrayal seems constantly in question.
