The actor Kim Soo-hyunwho has been the subject of rumors since March 2025 that he had a relationship with actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, is back in the news after a public statement by his legal representative.

On October 18, Go Sang-rok, Kim Soo-hyun's lawyer, has posted on its YouTube channel a video dated March 27, in which Bu Ji-seok (a lawyer representing the family of the late Kim Sae-ron) made certain assertions at a press conference. In it, Go Sang-rok now asks Bu Ji-seok to make public the evidence he claimed to hold at the time.
A controversy surrounding Bu Ji-seok's comments
In this video, Bu Ji-seok answered a journalist's question about Kim Sae-ron's attempts at self-mutilation: "It's said that the deceased self-mutilated several times. Didn't her family have her undergo psychiatric treatment?" The lawyer replied, "Her family is currently undergoing treatment, and has undergone treatment before."
When another journalist pointed out that he was speaking of the deceased herselfBu Ji-seok added: "The deceased did indeed self-harm several times. Some people wonder how her family could have been unaware of her marriage, but we have evidence that she asked them not to get involved, so as not to worry them. It's possible that some of the self-injury slipped through their parents' fingers, due to medical expenses and repeated incidents."

In response, lawyer Go Sang-rok said: "In the case of an accident or unexpected injury, a person may temporarily hide the truth so as not to worry their family. But in the case of a suicide attempt or deliberate self-harm, it's totally different. This silence is not a gesture of consideration, but a sign of psychological malaise and an emotional break with the family."
He added: "If a child repeats serious attempts at self-harm without the parents being aware of it, it shows that the family relationship had already broken down a long time ago. The deceased didn't hide the facts to avoid worrying her family, but because she no longer wanted to see them."
Kim Soo-hyun calls for swift investigation and denounces manipulation
Go Sang-rok has also asked Bu Ji-seok to disclose evidence which he claimed to possess at his press conference.
Regarding Kim Sae-ron's death, he explained: "She is known to have committed suicide. All the evidence suggests that after a failed marriage in the U.S. and a failed project to open a cafe in Korea, she sank into deep despair."
The lawyer continued, "According to Bu Ji-seok's own statements, the deceased attempted self-harm several times before her death, sometimes without her family being informed, and the last attempt was fatal."
He also pointed out that the tragic turning point in Kim Sae-ron's life dates back to the accident of May 18, 2022, involving drunk drivingproperty damage and hit-and-run:
"After this incident, she was the target of intense criticism and lived withdrawn for 3 years, in a state of great psychological instability, marked by repeated self-mutilation. And in this situation, her family failed to play the role of last support."
Finally, Go Sang-rok concluded: "It's hard to believe that anyone would conceal serious suicide attempts simply so as not to worry their loved ones. I am aware of information to the contrary. I hope I won't have to make them public. As for the fact that her family was unaware of her marriage in the United States, that seems equally incomprehensible to me."
Go ended by saying, "If I were to be asked publicly about the date of Kim Sae-ron's death, I would respond with these explanations."
Finally, he recalled that in his opinion, the heart of the matter was not the alleged relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron, but rather the the alleged manipulation of evidence by the YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute" (Garo Sero Yeonguso)calling for a rapid and thorough investigation.
Very active on social networks, Kim soo-hyun's lawyer shares all the facts and evidence in his possession. L'former artistic director of the Gold Medalist agency (the actor's) has also spoken out on his Instagram account in recent days to confirm that the photo used on the Kakaotalk messages circulated by Garosero and the deceased's family could not date from 2016 (as they claim) since it was taken by him on April 3, 2020 before being made public on June 15, 2020. A fact that fans of the actor have been chanting all along, but which has now been proven (and the proof is, according to this art director, filed with the courts).
