After more than a year's absence, Kim Soo-hyun is about to make a comeback in front of the cameras.
On June 8, his agency GOLDMEDALIST confirmed that the actor will take part in a publicity shoot for Bench (one of the few brands to have stood by his side since the affair that affected him), one of the Philippines' biggest fashion brands. The photo shoot is scheduled for July 14, 2026, and will mark his first official activity since the controversies that erupted in the spring of 2025.
A comeback after a particularly difficult year
March 2025, Kim Soo-hyun had found himself at the heart of a major controversy following accusations relayed by YouTube channel HoverLab (Garo Sero Institute) and its representative Kim Se-ui.
The latter alleged that the actor had had a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor, as well as various accusations of financial pressure exerted on the actress.
Kim Soo-hyun firmly denied all these accusations at a press conference, explaining that their relationship had only begun after Kim Sae-ron had come of age.
The controversy nevertheless had a major impact on his career: several brands suspended or terminated their advertising contracts with the actor, while the Disney+ series «Knock-Off» was postponed indefinitely.
The survey changed the game
In recent weeks, the case has taken a major turn for the better.
Kim Se-ui was arrested and subsequently detained after investigators concluded that several items publicly presented against Kim Soo-hyun were false or manipulated. According to the findings of the investigation, certain audio recordings attributed to Kim Sae-ron were generated using artificial intelligence, while KakaoTalk conversations presented as evidence were falsified.
The court validated Kim Se-ui's arrest warrant on May 26, citing a risk of destroying evidence and absconding. His request for release was subsequently rejected by the Korean courts.
On June 5, GOLDMEDALIST praised the work of the investigators and thanked those who had supported Kim Soo-hyun throughout the case.
A first step towards a wider return?
As yet, no new acting projects have been officially announced for Kim Soo-hyun. However, this campaign for Bench is his first confirmed public engagement in almost a year, and could mark the start of a gradual return to the limelight for the Korean star, much to the delight of fans.
