The legal team at Kim Soo-hyun continues to denounce the slow progress of the investigation into the false accusations made against the actor by Kim Se-uiresponsible for the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon).
November 5, Go Sang-rokPhil's lawyer, said that the analysis of the audio files allegedly recorded by the late actress Kim Sae-ron had still not been completed, 6 months after they were filed with the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (NFS).
A doctored recording and a protracted expert appraisal
According to the lawyer, "the file presented by Kim Se-ui and lawyer Bu Ji-seok at the press conference on May 7 is a recording tampered with by artificial intelligence ". He added that waiting so long to confirm such an obvious falsification was like "waiting 6 months for hospital results to check whether a fake scar drawn with a pen is a real wound".
Go Sang-rok also pointed out that the private sector can detect a manipulation in just 3 daysThe NFS has still not reached a conclusion after several months. He urged the authorities to publish results as soon as they become availablewithout attempting to "coordinate a spectacular announcement" with the referral of the case to the public prosecutor's office.
Investigation continues, Kim Soo-hyun maintains his defense
For several months now, Kim Se-ui accused Kim Soo-hyun of having a relationship with Kim Sae-ron as a minora statement firmly denied by the actor. At a press conference, lawyer Bu Ji-seok (representing Kim Sae-ron's family) played a recording purporting to be the actress's voice expressing reproaches towards Kim Soo-hyun, which the actor's defense team claimed had been artificially fabricated.
Seoul's police chief, Park Jeong-boacknowledged that the investigation had been delayed by the fact that the case had been split between several departments, but assured us that it was now progressing "more rapidly".
On his side, Kim Soo-hyun maintains that he never had a relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. His legal team is currently suing Kim Se-ui, Bu Ji-seok and other parties for defamation and violation of the Electronic Communications Act, while claiming 120 billion won (around $100 million) in damages.
Police investigation too slow
In a video published on November 4 on his YouTube channel Jingyeok-ui Tumbler ("Master Go's Attack"), Go Sang-rok urged police to speed up investigations. "As a victim, I speak the truth. Let me reveal a surprising fact," he declared, before explaining that the file had been transferred several times between different investigation teamsthe latest of which has been dubbed the "intensive investigation team".
Go added: "If this team had really investigated intensively for 4 months, you wouldn't see me today as Kim Soo-hyun's legal representative." He also revealed that since the complaint lodged on May 7the case was entrusted to 3 successive shiftswithout any of them having questioned Kim Se-ui. "After the complaint was filed, I called dozens of times to ask for an appointment for the complainant's deposition, without ever receiving a reply. Instead, I got a message saying, 'Just come in and sign the minutes, everything's already written.'"
He then asserted, "The lawyer I recruited, a former prosecutor, told me that a prosecutor would have been fired on the spot if he had sent such a message to a victim." Go pointed out that it was only after a formal request for recusal that the case had been transferred and that he had finally been able to testify. But, according to him, even 4 months later, Kim Se-ui still hasn't been heard from. He added angrily: "It's now been 5 months since the complaint was filed, and they still claim to be waiting for a request for access to the file from the suspect. Since when does our country let a criminal wait 5 months for this?"
