On this November 14, 2025, after more than 8 months, what remains of the accusations made by Kim Sae-ron's family and youtuber Garosero against actor Kim Soo-hyun? The family now seems to be backtracking on its accusations and wants to leave the blame solely on Kim Se-ui (Garosero). At this stage, and still awaiting the results of the NFS (National forensic service), which must prove that the conversations and audios are fabricated, Kim Soo-hyun's lawyer, Kho Sang-rock, is warning online platforms of a possible repeat attempt to disseminate false evidence. We take stock (as we do almost every day from now on!).

Kim Sae-ron's family denies key elements used by accusers

According to lawyer Kho Sang-rok, the recent position of the late Kim Sae-ron's family, conveyed via their legal representative Bu Ji-seok (during a television interview not yet broadcast, but to which Kim Soo-hyun's representative had access), has had the effect of an earthquake in the case. These statements directly contradict all the "evidence" put forward by YouTube channels such as Gaseyeon and commentator Kwon Young-chan.

In particular, the family states:

  • Never to have said that the photos circulated dated from the period when Kim Sae-ron was a minor.
  • Having no evidence that the June 2016 KakaoTalk was written by Kim Soo-hyun (the sender appears as "Unknown").
  • That the capture of April 13, 2018 is truncated and impossible to attribute to anyone.
  • To have never thought or asserted that Kim Soo-hyun was linked to the deceased's unhappiness or death.

In other words: the very source of the accusations now destroys the foundations of the case.

"Hundreds of photos" don't exist

The lawyer takes up, point by point, the three elements used to attack the actor:

The intimate photos presented as proof of a relationship with a minor? They all date from 2019-2020, when both protagonists were adults.

The 2016 KakaoTalk presented as a message from the actor? It was actually a conversation between the deceased and another man.

The KakaoTalk of 2018, used as an emotional argument? It contains no identifiable sender, and is therefore worthless.

"Since we have confirmed that the profile of the sender of the June 2016 KakaoTalk messages appears as "UnknownFrom now on, we plan to use this new modified screenshot where the sender is indicated as "Unknown.
There is no reason for us to continue using fabricated documents that have nothing to do with actor Kim Soo-hyun." - Kho Sang Rock on Threads

These revelations "correspond exactly to what we had already asserted", emphasized lawyer Kho Sang-rock, pointing out that all the accusations were based on a misleading or decontextualized presentation of the documents.

The theory of the link between the actor and death totally rejected

One of the most serious aspects of the accusations was the idea that Kim Soo-hyun had "pushed" the deceased to commit suicide, in particular by urging her to repay a 700 million won debt she owed to her Gold Medalist agency. The family categorically deny any connection between the actor and the circumstances of the death.

This position, now public, collapses "the entire essential premise of the false accusations", according to Kho Sang-rock.

Strong warning to YouTube channels and online media

In his press release broadcast on YouTube, the lawyer issues a direct warning:

  • All YouTube channels that broadcast private documents without consent, even if they have already been made public, are liable to civil action.
  • Subsequent distribution of these documents may lead to criminal prosecution, depending on the seriousness of the case.
  • Content that may have been manipulated, particularly that concerning the actor's private life, may entail additional legal liability.

It explicitly targets Garosero, Kwon Young-chan's channel, and certain lawyer YouTubers, urging them to act with extreme caution now that "the truth is out, and public interest accusations no longer hold water".

Formal notice from the family lawyer

In other news today, Kho Sang-rock announced that he had also sent a registered letter to lawyer Bu Ji-seok himself, in order to :

  • alert him to the risk of further acts that could constitute a "second attack",
  • demand the cessation of all inappropriate communication or contact with online channels that have contributed to the spread of rumors.

He also urges the media to exercise caution when considering interviews or contacts with him.

A case that finally tips towards the truth

The press release concludes with a strong statement: "Now that the position of the bereaved family has been clearly established, it is likely that a confrontation over the truth will continue between the family and Kim Se-eui, and we expect the authorities to determine the facts with precision. However, regardless of this, since the position of the family, the primary source of all information, is now known, the essence of the cybercrime structure related to this case is now exposed."

With this public warning, Kim Soo-hyun marks a major step forward in his defense: not only have the accusations been dismantled point by point, but those disseminating false information have been warned that no tolerance will be shown.

So what remains of all these accusations and this case? It seems appropriate to answer in mid-November: nothing. In fact, the brands for which he was the muse and which are starting to appear in court have all received the same feedback from the court: "Please clearly state the reasons for terminating the contract."

All that remains now is for the courts (and the NFS results) to clear Kim Soo-hyun's name once and for all, even though he will have lost at least 1 year of his life as a result of these accusations. South Korea still has a long way to go when it comes to cancel culture issues.
