The actress Kim Min-ha, revealed to the public thanks to « Pachinko »and recently seen in «Typhoon Family», could well hold the leading role of the screenwriter's next ambitious drama Park Jae-bum. According to exclusive information relayed on February 6 by iMBC Entertainment, she is currently the favorite to lead « Embers »(working title), a project marking the 21st anniversary of AStory studio.
An espionage drama set in 1980s Korea
Embers promises to be a historical espionage drama set in Korea in the early 1980s, at the height of the Fifth Republic. The story follows an agent of the National Security Agency, entirely devoted to the state, who is tasked with tracking down spies. To carry out his mission, he infiltrates a totally unexpected environment: a TV station, where he poses as the leader of a dance troupe.
It's against this tense backdrop of surveillance, concealment and youth under political pressure that Kim Min-ha's proposed character is set. She would play Baek Seo-kyung, an elite agent with a cold, methodical temperament, placing organization and mission above all personal considerations. Charged with controlling her team in the field, she nevertheless finds herself confronted with unexpected upheavals that will shake her certainties and place her at the heart of the story.
A new challenge for Kim Min-ha, between prestige and transformation
After making her mark in the international series Pachinko in the role of the young Sunja, Kim Min-ha has gradually expanded her filmography with projects such as Lighting Store or Typhoon Family. Recognized for the solidity and restraint of her playing, she is gradually establishing herself as one of the rising stars of her generation.
Playing the lead role in Embers would represent a milestone in his career, both in terms of the scope of the project and the psychological density of the character.
