The cast of the upcoming drama « Gold Digger »continues to take shape. According to information revealed on March 5 by Korean media outlet Xports News, actress Kim Ji-eun will join the JTBC series as the eldest daughter of the character played by Kim Hee-ae.
This new production is adapted from the British BBC drama of the same name. The original story follows Julia, a wealthy divorced woman who, on her 60th birthday, meets Benjamin, a 33-year-old man, by chance. Their relationship, marked by a 27-year age gap, had sparked much discussion in the UK.
The Korean version should take up this bold plot and adapt it to the local context.

A controversial romance at the heart of the story
In this adaptation, Kim Hee-ae will play the main heroine. The actress will be making her return to television drama several years after the success of The World of the Married.
She will star opposite Noh Sang-hyun, who is set to play her much younger partner. Their relationship, marked by a significant age gap, should form one of the central elements of the plot.
The series is written by Kang Eun-kyung, known for Bread, Love and Dreams (King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo) and the franchise Dr. Romantic, in collaboration with screenwriter Sun Young, who worked on Forecasting Love and Weather.
Kim Ji-eun as the eldest daughter
Kim Ji-eun will play the eldest daughter of the main character's three children. Her role will be that of a young woman confronted with her mother's unexpected relationship with a younger man.
In this family story marked by a controversial romance, his character should provide an important insight into the tensions and emotions provoked by this situation.
Kim Ji-eun made a name for herself after debuting in 2016 in a Bacchus commercial, before appearing in several dramas such as Lovely Horribly, Doctor Prisoner and Strangers from Hell.
She then attracted further attention with her first starring role in The Veil, then in series such as One Dollar Lawyer, Branding in Seongsu and Love Next Door, where she demonstrated her ability to interpret a wide range of characters.
The drama Gold Digger will be broadcast on JTBC in October 2026.
