A new darkly humorous drama is on the way, and its cast is already attracting attention. Kim Hye-soo, Cho Yeo-jeong, Kim Ji-hoon and Kim Jae-chul have officially confirmed their participation in« The Affair Is Not the Problem Right Now« a black comedy in which adultery is just the tip of the iceberg.
The project has been approved for distribution in the course of the year, and promises a tale as biting as it is unpredictable.
The perfect image cracks
The Affair Is Not the Problem Right Now features 2 couples with seemingly opposing interests. On one side, a couple of very popular influencers, selling to the public the image of an ideal, perfectly harmonious family. On the other, their neighbors, a medical couple in the midst of a divorce war, plagued by resentment and conflict.
When these 4 characters find themselves bound by an overwhelming secret, a chain reaction is set in motion. Before long, the adultery at the center of their suspicions seems almost insignificant, as the magnitude of the buried truths rises to the surface.
Kim Hye-soo plays Kyung Hee, CEO of an interior design company and successful influencer, driven by a consuming ambition.
Cho Yeo-jeong plays Soo Jung, a dermatologist living in the apartment next door, ready to endure anything to protect her only daughter.
Desire, resentment and black comedy
Kim Ji-hoon plays Jae Hong, Kyung Hee's husband, an actor whose career is overshadowed by his wife's dazzling success.
Kim Jae-chul plays Bo Sung, Soo Jung's ex-husband, who is determined to regain custody of their daughter, even if it means crossing all boundaries.
Initially presented as characters caught up in a classic extramarital affair, they gradually find themselves sucked into a spiral of uncontrollable events, where lust, jealousy and obsession take over.
After reading the script, Kim Hye-soo confided: «Everything felt unique. The way the story unfolds, as well as the uniqueness of the characters and the ensemble, was really enjoyable.»
Cho Yeo-jeong added: «A breathless farce built around a single incident develops in a very exciting way thanks to the chemistry between the actors. I hope you'll look forward to it.»
Kim Ji-hoon commented: «I liked the fun, fresh and unpredictable nature of the story. I'll do my best to maintain good energy on the set until the final shoot.» Kim Jae-chul concluded: «I'll do my best to convey to the audience the excitement I felt when I read the script. I'll be back with a great series.»
Between social satire, black humor and psychological drama, The Affair Is Not the Problem Right Now promises to be a corrosive work, in which each relationship hides much more than it shows.
