The drama “Absolute Value of Romance”is shaping up to be as original as it is offbeat. With the release of a new poster and teaser, the series unveils a plot where imagination and reality dangerously merge.
At the heart of the story, Kim Hyang-gi plays Yeo Eui-ju, a discreet high-school student with a very special secret: she's writing an online BL novel inspired by her teachers... without them knowing.
When inspiration surpasses reality
In the unveiled poster, Yeo Eui-ju appears totally absorbed in her writing, her eyes shining with excitement at what could become a real success.
Around her, four teachers (played by Cha Hak-yeon, Kim Jae-hyun, Sohn Jeong-hyuck and Kim Dong-gyu) display perplexed expressions, as if already sensing the consequences of this story in which they are, in spite of themselves, the main characters.
The teaser shows how Eui-ju, once considered an unsuccessful author, experiences a meteoric rise. Buoyed by her new inspiration, she suddenly becomes popular thanks to her novel.
A situation spiraling out of control
But this success soon turns against her. As the real inspiration for her story begins to make itself known within the school, the situation takes a much more tense turn.
Hostile reactions emerge, with phrases such as “Delete this immediately!” or “We're going to exclude you”, foreshadowing serious consequences for the young author.
Between humor, chaos and tension, “Absolute Value of Romance” promises a story full of twists and turns, where a simple fiction could turn an entire school upside down.
The drama is due to air on April 17 on Coupang Play and Prime Video worldwide.
