A new romantic comedy is set to reunite Kang Min-ah and Kim Myung-soo (L). The actress has been confirmed in the cast of « Empathy Cells« a drama mixing romance and supernatural phenomena.
The series tells the story of a woman who rejects all forms of empathy, and a man who is overwhelmed by the emotions of others. When a strange event leads them to share their feelings, they embark on an unexpected journey of learning and transformation.
An idol in emotional crisis
Kang Min-ah plays Yoo Ji-an, a former idol turned actress. Once dubbed “the national idol” in her group's heyday, she grew up under a harsh maternal upbringing that led her to repress her emotions from childhood.
This inability to fully express or feel empathy eventually led to controversy surrounding her acting, plunging her career into a critical period. Her meeting with psychologist Cha Eun-hwan marked a turning point.
An unexpected transfer of emotions
Cha Eun-hwan, played by Kim Myung-soo, is a deeply sensitive psychological counselor. Through a mysterious “emotional transference”, the two characters begin to feel each other's emotions.
This phenomenon forces them to confront their own wounds and redefine their relationship with feelings.
Scheduled for release in the second half of the year, Empathy Cells promises a fantasy-tinged romance exploring vulnerability and emotional healing.
