Kang Han-na is set to make her mark with a powerful new role. The actress has been confirmed for the drama “Whale Star”an ambitious project combining romance and history.
According to several sources on April 7, she joins this new drama directed by Heo Jin-ho.
A strong character in a historical context
In “Whale Star, Kang Han-na plays Han Yeon-kyeong, a cold, determined woman from an influential family. A member of a secret organization called “Whale Star”, she is also a wealthy Gunsan heiress.
After losing her husband to torture during the Japanese occupation, her character devotes herself entirely to the struggle for Korean independence, promising an intense and striking evolution.
An anticipated drama adapted from a webtoon
Adapted from a popular webtoon of the same name, “Whale Star” is a 12-episode drama inspired by the tale of “The Little Mermaid”. Set during the Japanese occupation, the story follows a man willing to sacrifice everything for his country, and a woman willing to risk her life to protect him.
The cast includes Choi Woo-shik, Moon Ga-young, Heo Nam-joon and Gong Seung-yeon, further raising expectations for the project. The director is Heo Jin-ho, known for “Christmas in August” and “The Last Princess”, with a screenplay by Lee Gu-reum and Seol Som.
Filming is due to start in April.
