Actress Jung Yoo-mi could soon be appearing in a new drama alongside Lee Dong-wook. According to information published on March 6 by the Korean media OSEN, the actress has reportedly received an offer to join the series « Love Affair »(working title) and is currently considering the offer positively.
His agency has confirmed that the project is under study, but no participation has yet been officially confirmed.
The series is to be produced for Netflix and marks a new collaboration with director Mo Wan-il, best known for his work on the smash hit The World of the Married.
A story of a marriage destroyed by fatal love
The drama will tell the story of a couple leading a stable life with secure jobs and a happy marriage. But this equilibrium is shattered when a sudden and destructive love arises «like a road accident», causing the gradual collapse of their relationship.
In the story, the male character Kim Ji-hoon, a man in his forties, falls passionately in love with another woman, leading his relationship to a dramatic breakup.
Lee Dong-wook has previously been approached to play Kim Ji-hoon, while Jung Yu-mi has reportedly been offered the role of his wife.
An ambitious new project for Netflix
The drama will be written by Ha Soo-jin, screenwriter of The Matchmakers, directed by Mo Wan-il. Some elements of the concept are reminiscent of The World of the Married, but several sources indicate that the tone and development of the story could be even bolder.
The project is due to go into production in the first half of the year, with some of the shooting scheduled to take place abroad, notably in Spain.
If Jung Yu-mi confirms her participation, it will also be her first project since joining her new agency Noon Company. The drama would also mark her first on-screen collaboration with Lee Dong-wook.
